Description

The logs are on average 9m long and have a diameter of 0.5 to 1m. The trunks are not very large, therefore the number of consecutive leaves will be limited.

The birch is white to light brown in color, the sapwood is indistinguishable from the heartwood. The veneer is cut flat, resulting in books 8 to 15 cm wide with a quiet pattern. This veneer is available in a rather limited way.

Sliced birch veneer has as typical characteristics: narrow strips of 8 to 15 cm and a higher price. In contrast to birch stay log rotary cut that has wider strips of 10 to 25 cm, a lower price but a wilder pattern.

Typical characteristics of birch veneer: pith spots (these are due to infestation of the cambium by a long-legged mosquito).
