Up to 45 m tall tree, the straight and cylindrical trunks to a maximum of 21 m, trunk diameter averaging 0.7-1.5 m.

The heartwood is pink, pinkish-red to reddish-brown in color with purple veins that cause stripe markings on the on quarter slices and flamed markings on the in crowns slices.
 

Applications include furniture, fine carpentry, paneling, turned goods, parquet, mouldings, carvings and inlays.
