Description

White to greyish-white in colour, sometimes with a purplish glow. There is no difference in colour between heartwood and sapwood. Pine has a moderately coarse grain. When the log is sliced on quarter, the pattern is straight, and when it is sliced in crowns, the pattern will be flamed.

Pine generally has a slightly coarser texture than northern European spruce and does not contain resin channels.

Trees are over 30 m high, up to 45 m. Diameter 0.4-0.9 m, maximum 1.8 m.

Pine is used for structural applications like spruce. However, pine is not suitable for applications requiring a slightly higher quality, such as window frames, doors, stairs, furniture, etc. Pine is also used for packaging and cheese boards.
