Description

Average height of 35 m. The straight cylindrical branchless log is about 20 m long and has a diameter of 0.6-1.2(-1.8) m.

The Pine Knotty Europe is wrongly called pine, but it is a variant of spruce.

There is no difference in colour between the heartwood and the sapwood. In freshly planed wood, the colour is almost white to pale yellow-brown, after prolonged exposure to light and air, it becomes yellow-brown. Spruce contains resin pockets, i.e. spaces in the wood filled with resin, which can leak out after being sawn.

The knotted variety contains various knots, knots and cracks which can sometimes be particularly pronounced, and sometimes open. Resin galls/resin cracks can also be found in the veneer.

The veneer is between 0.6 mm and 0.9 mm thick, on quarter or in crowns slices and usually jointed.
