Description

Up to 45 m tall tree with a strong root system, the straight cylindrical log is 18-30 m long with a diameter of 0.6-0.9 m, 1.2 m maximum.

The heartwood is yellow-brown to dark brown with usually a golden sheen, sometimes with dark streaks or veined (called tigerwood). The sapwood is grayish white to light beige, maximum 70 mm, average 50 mm wide.

Thanks to its appearance similar to another Walnut, the African Walnut is used for decorative veneers and veneered panels in furniture, paneling and piano cabinets.
