Description

These trees can reach 50 m in height, with a log diameter of 1.5 m.

Heartwood is reddish brown, sometimes with dark streaks. Sapwood is pale yellow. Often seen with a curly or violin-shaped grain pattern. This wood is often used for veneers, plywood, furniture, flooring and turned objects.

Although Etimoe is almost always sold as a veneer, ironically it has one of the best strength-to-weight ratios (in terms of breaking modulus to average dried weight) of any wood in the world.
