Description

Lime is generally straight grained, fine grained and almost unmarked. Its heartwood is fresh, yellowish white when slightly exposed to light and light brown after staining, sometimes with a pink glow. The sapwood is usually indistinguishable from the heartwood.

Trees are 25-30m tall, sometimes up to 40m, the logs are up to 15m long with diameters up to 1.2m.

Lime is quite soft, so sharp tools are needed to work it properly.

It is used in many applications: veneer, musical instruments, sculptures and engravings, toys, etc.

The leaves are in stock in the open book. Veneered or sheared on request.
