Description

Ebony are usually small trees, height 15-18 m, with a branchless straight cylindrical log of 3-10 m, but usually shorter, diameter 0.3-0.6 m, maximum 0.9 m.

 

Ebony wood is black, sometimes with a few irregular light brown streaks. In other Ebony species, light-colored streaks may also be present. 

 

The various uses of Ebony are veneer and plywood for panels and paneling, brushes, jewelry boxes, etc.
