Description

American walnut is warm dark brown. Colour can vary from brown grey to brown purple or brown red . The sapwood is whitish. Between sapwood and heartwood there can often be an area of transitional wood that is lighter than the heartwood. 

 

Used as veneer, plywood and other board material for furniture and paneling, radio, television and piano cabinets.

 

This tree can grow up to40 m tall. The log without branches can reach 10 m (or even more).
